Hello Faircrest Farms Friends!
So fun to have our son, his wife and grandson spend a few days at Faircrest Farms. Christoph looks like a little bear in the bean patch. He enjoyed pulling turnips and picking peas.
This week’s Offering
Salad mix and arugula are still growing well. Peas and spinach are still gaining speed.
Rita and I are learning so many different ways to cook kale, chard, beets, and turnips. Spicy sausage adds the “Wow” factor that clears out the sinuses.
From the Field
Out with the okra, peppers, with just a few tomatoes left.
We have two small salt and pepper cucumbers on the vine in our solarium!
Looks like the frost is coming November 1st.
Words of Wisdom
“There are few things as transformative as growing your own food… Planting, growing and harvesting your own food engenders patience, love of nature, confidence in your own abilities and – perhaps most powerfully of all– a deep and abiding pleasure from the work. ” - Alice Waters
