Dear Faircrest Farms Friends, From Summer’s Bounty to Autumn’s Table
It was so fun meeting many of you at the Ogden Farmers Market this past weekend! My nephew and his girlfriend even made the trip just to see us (see photo). With the sun moving into Virgo and the fall equinox just ahead, daylight hours will shift by a full hour in just over two weeks. Mother Earth is quietly drawing her energy inward, and we feel that same seasonal rhythm here on the farm.
This Week’s Harvest
-
Rhubarb – making a late-season comeback
-
Squash – zucchini and acorn finishing strong
-
Asian greens – Tokyo Bekana & Komatsuna returning to the mix
-
Beans & Tomatoes – still abundant and delicious
-
Peaches – just a few left, get them while you can!
-
Peppers – slowing down as summer fades
From the Farm
We’ve been busy preparing every bed for fall sowing and have finished expanding into the May property. Bunching onions are already in the soil, and we’re sowing leafy greens this week before tucking cover crops in for winter. Some of our strongest plants are being allowed to go to seed—improving varieties for seasons to come.
In the Kitchen
Here’s what we’ve been cooking (and preserving) with the harvest:
- Anaheim chile stews
- Hearty bean, carrot, & beet soups
- Pulled-pork salads over rice with fresh toppings
- Drying peppers and tomatoes, plus freezing as much as storage allows
You’re Invited: Faircrest Farms Open House
Tuesday, September 30 | 6–8 PM Come for a tour of the farm—including our high tunnel, solarium, processing shop, orchard, and nearby fields—and stay to mingle with neighbors over farm-fresh finger foods, veggie trays, and seasonal drinks.
We’ll share the story of Faircrest Farms, celebrate three years of growth, and give thanks to our community and volunteers. Expect good food, flowers, recipe cards, and a short program highlighting our mission and partnerships.

Find Us at Market
-
Last Ogden Farmers Market for us this Saturday. It is the Harvest Moon Market – Sat, Sept 21, 10a–2p.
-
Look for microgreens at Urban Prairie Ag this fall—we’ll continue sales through them to stay connected to the community market scene.
Community & Volunteers
We’re grateful for new partnership agreements with Weber Recovery Center and Eos Serenity Lodge. Their clients are experiencing the healing power of the soil alongside us, and many will continue volunteering or working with us after their programs. Truly, this is what “growing together” looks like.
