Dear Faircrest Farms Friend, Cool mornings, golden afternoons, and a soft warmth in the air — it’s that rare November pause when the season catches its breath. Indian Summer has stretched just a little longer, giving us extra time to sow, tend, and prepare for winter’s rest. The sun is making its way to Libra.
Available This Week
Carrots are back! Their deep sweetness is proof of crisp autumn nights and careful tending. Spinach is coming, too.
You’ll also find:
- Fresh Mint
- Flat-leaf Parsley
- Fragrant Cilantro
- Aromatic Dill
These herbs are vibrant and full of flavor — perfect for brightening soups, sauces, or your favorite roast vegetables.
From the Field
This week brings new energy to the farm! We’re happy to welcome Cyrus and Gerald to the Faircrest crew — both quick learners and ready hands. Together we’re:
-
Sowing seeds for winter greens and cover crops
-
Transplanting seedlings into the high tunnel to extend our growing season
-
Turning compost into a steaming, rich pile that will feed next year’s crops
Each task feels like an act of faith — investing in the quiet work of the soil that makes everything possible.
In the Kitchen
Shorter days call for comfort in a bowl. It’s the perfect time for soups and hearty sauces.
Try simmering our chard or kale with onions and garlic, then fold it into a homemade marinara for a deep, earthy flavor that warms you from the inside out.
Biodynamic Transitions
We’re in that magical moment between seasons. The coming Beaver Moon — the last supermoon of the year — will shine bright and full, signaling the final shift toward winter. As the moon rises large and luminous, we’re preparing the land for rest: spreading compost, tucking in beds, and reflecting on the abundance this year has brought.
