Hello Faircrest Farms Friends!
Iris, lilac, and clematis are blooming—May has arrived in full beauty, accompanied by a dazzling Flower (or Frog!) Full Moon. The farm is alive with color, growth, and promise.
This Week’s Offering Alongside our abundant salad mix and spinach, we’re adding fresh turnips and kale to the list—plus more bok choy and, yes, more arugula. Spring flavors are in full swing!
Plant Sale It’s live. It’s on. And the 30-day forecast looks comfortably above freezing. You can place your order anytime—just text Rita (610.353.3014) with your preferred pickup date, and we’ll have your plants ready.
For full details, visit our Plant Sale webpage. Proceeds from the sale will support Eden Streets’ Grow Ogden program, helping relaunch 8 individuals through farm-based job training. Your garden can help grow something even bigger.
In the Field We’ve been taking full advantage of the descending moon with a wave of transplanting—raspberries, kale, lettuce, spinach, and arugula all finding their new homes.
At the same time, we’re seeing strong germination from radishes, turnips, carrots, and bunching onions—always a hopeful sight.
We’ve also been applying compost tea for foliar feeding, giving plants a nutrient-rich boost right where they need it.
Our 5-foot-tall cover crop mix is now being harvested—feeding a vibrant compost pile and returning life back into the soil. We’re incredibly grateful for the helping hands from Eos Serenity Lodge and Weber Recovery Center.
Meanwhile, zucchini and cucumbers in the high tunnel are taking off—growing by leaps and bounds.
In the Kitchen Cilantro on Cinco de Mayo made all the difference—brightening up a simple black bean salad tucked into warm tortillas. Fresh really does matter.
