Dear Faircrest Farms Friend,
What a great return to the Ogden Farmers’ Market last Saturday! It was a joy to meet some of you face-to-face and welcome a few excited new customers. Even after our break following the Grow Ogden plant sale, we had a strong first day back. Mark your calendars—we’ll be at the Farmers Market again on August 16 & 30 and September 13 & 20.
You’ll spot us more easily now with our new Faircrest Farms banner proudly flying and fresh yard signs placed around the neighborhood. We’ve already seen new walk-in customers because of them. One visitor, Josh, took a tour and said, “I wish I had known about this earlier!”
From the Field
We're excited to offer a few bags of Sylvette Arugula, a more heat-tolerant variety that’s helping us stretch our greens season. Our herbs—especially sweet basil and parsley—are coming on strong. We’ve even hung a new dryer to handle the abundance.
Okra, peppers, and tomatoes are all picking up steam. Rita and I can’t help but feel grateful for the growth - and especially that we eat well. Come enjoy the deliciousness for yourself.
Huge thanks to Dave Humphrey for running the farm while Rita and I were away. He harvested leafy greens and packed orders single-handedly—an exhausting day, but a heroic one. We’re so grateful!
Growth All Around
Taking advantage of yesterday’s cloudy morning, we transplanted most of our leafies to keep your salad mix fresh and flowing through the season. Thanks to our winged allies—the “air force” of wasps and bees—grasshoppers and earwigs are staying in check naturally.
Our fruit trees are now summer-pruned, and it looks like a bountiful peach and nectarine harvest is on the way. We’re especially thankful for the 10 hardworking men who volunteered last Friday, helping us build three new beds—with nine more to come! Between our amazing women and men volunteers, we’re almost keeping up with the growth!
Better Shopping Experience
Thanks to helpful customer feedback, we now include unit amounts in each product name—so when you order peppers, you’ll know exactly what you’re getting (e.g., 8 oz or by the piece).
Friendly reminder: after placing your order, text or email your preferred pickup time so we can get your veggies ready. And if you'd like to get text alerts when new harvests are posted, just let me know—we’re happy to add you.
