Dear Faircrest Farms Friend, Mid-July harvests are peaking—peppers, potatoes, tomatoes & more await.
It’s a mid-July marvel out here—and we’ve got peppers aplenty to prove it!
Sweet bells, Jimmy Nardellos, and hot Anaheims are coming in strong. Potatoes are back on the list, tomatoes are here to stay through fall, and our fresh-picked basil is just waiting to jazz up your favorite pasta sauce.
Value You Can Taste We recently compared our pricing to Organic vendors at Good Earth, Natural Grocers, the Ogden Farmers Market, and even Smith’s. The result? Our customers are getting exceptional value on produce that’s picked at its peak and naturally grown with care—no middlemen, no compromise.
From the Field This week has been all about weeding and mulching. Our straw mulch keeps the soil cool, retains moisture, and cuts back on weeds and disease.
And nature’s showing up to help! Our flower plantings are attracting beneficial insects like wasps that are taking care of the earwigs and grasshoppers. (Though the Tokyo Bekana did take a hit, we still managed a few beautiful bunches.)
Take a stroll by the farm—our Lisianthus flowers are in full bloom! They look like roses, but without the thorns. A bouquet makes a perfect surprise.
From the Table Rita and I have been loving chard lately—especially sautéed in olive oil with garlic, Jimmy Nardello peppers, and a splash of rice vinegar. Paired with roasted spaghetti squash? Unreal. Give it a try and let us know what you think!
