Hello Faircrest Farms Friends!
Sun-Powered Growth (Despite the Deep Freeze).
What a week of contrasts! The record cold has singed our outside crops, but we're incredibly grateful for our high tunnel. Last week we received 38,263 kW/m² of sunshine—nearly 60% more than the week previous to last week (23,954 kW/m²). The result? A cozy 70°F inside the high tunnel where we can harvest in just a light jacket.
It felt so good to put my hands back into the soil this week, even if I was just weeding! While we're grateful for all this sunshine, we sure could use some rain.
This Week's Harvest
Available now:
-
NEW: Fresh radishes—a good number of bunches ready!
-
Greens: Spinach, arugula, and salad mix
-
Microgreens: Pea, salad mix, and radish
In the Fields
We've been applying comfrey tea ferment (brewed last fall) to add extra nitrogen to our high tunnel beds. We're getting close to planting the next generation of greens that will replace our current producers—the cycle of farm life continues!

In the Heavens
Northern Utah's lack of rain is concerning. If you believe in a Creator who can send rain, we'd be grateful for your prayers in the coming weeks. Our land is thirsty.
Words of Wisdom
Brook LeVan, "Confessions of a Reluctant Land Whisperer":
"In this reverence these land stewards have discovered a quality of health, a cornucopia that only comes from their living practice in daily and seasonal rhythms that align with the celestial forces streaming into the ether."
