Hello Friends! Utah Farm & Food Conference was amazing!
This Week's Harvest
Available now:
-
Microgreens: Pea, Salad Mix, and Radish
-
Greens: The abundant sunshine this week helped boost our spinach, lettuce, and arugula production
We've finally run out of carrots and turnips for the season, but we're already planning to grow more this coming summer so we'll have them available through next winter.
Reflections from the Utah Farm & Food Conference
You know it's a good conference when you've met lots of new friends and you feel fired up for the new farming year! More than 300 farmers, producers, and food advocates gathered to share ideas on how to grow and raise more local food for Utahns.
A few highlights that have us excited:
- The small farm tools workshop helped me identify equipment to further streamline our operations
-
We explored biodynamics—a whole other level of farming that incorporates life energy into our produce. One chef tasting Sustainable Settings' biodynamically produced food said, "The flavor profile of this food is untouchable!"
NEW: Monthly Cooking Classes Starting Soon!
We're thrilled to announce cooking classes beginning this spring! Join us Wednesday evenings once a month from 7:00 - 8:30 PM in a commercial kitchen.
What You'll Learn:
- Use seasonal farm produce to make tasty, nutritious meals (cook with fresh herbs!)
- Scratch cooking basics including stocks, sauces, and bread
- Meal planning with whole grains and legumes
- How to cook less familiar vegetables like turnips, beets, eggplant, microgreens, arugula, brussels sprouts, hot peppers, okra, kohlrabi, and rhubarb
More details coming soon!
Words of Wisdom
Brook LeVan, Sustainable Settings:
"Everything is alive. Let the life all around us speak through us, making sure to not let our egos get in the way. As a farmer, I am a steward here to create arenas for all life to do their best work. It's our job to create unity in sanctified space."
