Hello Faircrest Farms Friends! Happy New Year from all of us here at the farm! We hope you're staying warm as we settle into January's rhythm.
This Week's Harvest
We're bringing you crisp salad greens, sweet carrots, and earthy turnips fresh from our January 2nd harvest. And don't miss our microgreen pea shoots—they're our absolute favorite right now and perfect for adding a burst of flavor to winter dishes.
Growing Partnerships
We're excited to share some new collaborations taking shape this season. We're working with Weber State University's Botany department, where Karl is taking "Plant Form and Function". We're recruiting botany students to help design and build the Grow Ogden Herb Spiral Garden—a beautiful way to blend education with growing food that creates jobs for our neighbors in transition.
We've also partnered with Ogden Produce Company, a nonprofit run by Steve Ballard (who also operates Sonora Grill). They're making healthy, local food accessible downtown at 582 25th Street, offering significantly reduced curry dishes and salads alongside produce from us and other local farmers.
Looking Ahead
We'll be sending out a cooking class survey soon—stay tuned! And if you're curious about what Mother Nature has in store, we've been having fun with the 2026 Almanac. It's predicting slightly warmer weather before things get colder again. We've already been blessed with 3.6 inches of rain over the last six days!
Words of Wisdom
Rudolf Steiner once wrote: "There is practically no field of human endeavor that does not relate to agriculture in some way. Seen from whatever perspective you choose, agriculture touches on every single aspect of human life..."
This reminds us why we do what we do—farming connects us all.
Keep us Growing!
