Hello Faircrest Farms Friends!
Happy Groundhog Day!
This tradition holds a special place in my heart, coming from PA Dutch Country. We celebrated by making hamburgers dressed up as little groundhogs—a fun tribute to this beloved day!
But February 2nd is more than just folklore. Across cultures, farmers have recognized this date as significant—the Winter Octel, the halfway point to spring. It's an inflection point where we can feel the shift. With over 10 hours of sunlight now, plant growth will dramatically accelerate. Persephone is emerging from the underworld, bringing life back to the land!
New This Week: Turnips & Turnip Greens
We're excited to offer fresh turnips and turnip greens this week! These cold-hardy vegetables are at their peak right now, sweet and tender from the winter chill.
Quick Recipe for Turnip Greens:
Sauté with garlic and olive oil, finish with a splash of apple cider vinegar and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Simple, delicious, and packed with nutrients!
In the Kitchen I made a beautiful spinach quiche on Sunday (see photo), and it was absolutely delicious! There's something special about cooking with vegetables you've grown yourself—the flavor just can't be matched.

Words of Wisdom: "Real Wealth" From Brook LeVan's Confessions of a Reluctant Land Whisperer:
"There are some who can buy anything they want, that have come to feel, to experience, this dynamic ranchstead arena. And once there and they have engaged and tasted the food that comes from this place, they have said that these land-whispering Agrarians have discovered real wealth."
Real wealth isn't measured in dollars—it's found in connection to the land, in food grown with intention, and in community nourished together.
