2025: A Year of Growth
What an amazing year at Faircrest Farms! As a community-based farm, we engage people in farm work that restores and rebuilds lives. Here's what we accomplished together in 2025:
-
1,386 employment hours (beyond Rita and Karl)
- 575 volunteer hours
-
68% farm expansion – now 79 growing beds!
-
662 lbs of food donated to Catholic Community Services and our volunteers
-
Launched our FaircrestFarms.org online storefront
-
Deepened our Biodynamic and regenerative farming practices
None of this delicious food would be possible without our incredible team and your loyal patronage. Thank you for making it possible to pay these wonderful people who love farming!
New Farm Tool: Weather Station
Over the holidays, Karl's son John helped build a custom weather API that digests data into powerful daily summaries. Combined with insights from The 2025-2026 Old Farmer's Almanac, we're learning to work even more harmoniously with nature's rhythms.
Right now, cover crops blanket most beds, keeping the soil alive through winter, while thick woodchips protect Mother Earth for a strong spring start.
So much more to learn—but we've come a long way. Thanks for being patient with us on this journey!
