Hello Faircrest Farms Friends!

Rain has come twice this week—and we are SO grateful! 🌧️🌧️

The plants seem to be saying thank you, too, by blooming, setting fruit, and growing like crazy. It’s hard to believe how quickly cucumbers and zucchini can grow. Don’t blink—or you may come back to find a zucchini that looks more like a baseball bat! 🥒⚾

Thank you for your patronage and for choosing to fill your table with food grown right here in our community. It makes us genuinely happy to grow this delicious, nourishing produce for you.

🌿 This Week’s Harvest

We harvested our first okra and Nutmeg melons this week! There aren't quite enough yet to offer for sale, but we're excited to give you a preview of what's coming. They are treats worth waiting for!

Please see the harvest snapshot above for what is available this week.

🌱 In the Fields

This week gave us another wonderful reminder that a healthy farm is about more than growing plants—it’s about growing people, too.

Our crew has demonstrated some amazing resilience and growing independence. While I completed the final 120-mile stage of my America 250 Miles on Bike journey—bringing me to 101% of my goal—our crew stepped up and also ran our booth at Ogden Farmers Market while Rita and I visited our son and his family in Idaho.

Watching their skills develop and become more refined has been incredibly rewarding. We’re grateful for a crew that is increasingly capable of carrying the farm forward, even when we're away.

🌿 Words of Wisdom

“Neither need you tell me,” said Candide, “that we must take care of our garden.”

“You are in the right,” said Pangloss, “for when man was put into the garden of Eden, it was with an intent to dress it: and this proves that man was not born to be idle…. Happiness lies in the cultivation of the garden.”

— Voltaire, Candide

I love this passage because it speaks to something we experience every day at Faircrest Farms: there is something deeply satisfying about cultivating a garden—and about cultivating the people who work in it.
